SPACE RANGER

June 14, 2019

The burden of wasting valuable time on someone that doesn’t value your work and craft can be extremely exhausting, especially in this day in age of this particular industry . I’m so happy that griztriz.com is finally back live and in motion! Feels sooo good to have a platform in which I can call my own to vent about recent events in my life , give health tips , share my work and of course connect with you guys on a deeper level. with that said today’s topic of discussion is all about protecting your time , efforts and work but most importantly your energy. Protecting yourself from others that aren’t particularly on your personal frequency whether that be spiritually , intellectually or simply business wise. Is vital as a black creative and unfortunately I had to learn the hard way.

See a lot of opportunities have happened since we last spoke. and some might look at me crazy to call these instances opportunities when I could flat out spill the whole tea on how shady and unfortunate this industry can be towards Black creatives, but instead I rather look at these mishaps and side eye experiences that have happened in the past moths as hiccups. and to understand that these things aren’t happening to me but rather for me. I’m smarter , stronger and wont tolerate any BS when it comes to my work /craft .

I walked into this industry being so available naive to other when it came to work… so available that my availability was taken for granted. I was confused to think the way to level up in this industry was to be available to other whenever and push beyond what was asked out of me merely out of passion. Which don’t get me wrong is awesome for all you young ones coming up just like myself, but like I stated earlier . some people you just don’t mesh with on an energetic level and things can go sour. Whats crazy is our intuition is always there for insight and yet we still seem to ignore it. Yup you know what I’m talking about that such feeling you feel in your gut when you know something just isn’t right. We often ignore it as if it’s just anxiety but often that “raised eyebrow” feeling our spirit is having is actually speaking to us to take the nearest and most convenient exit .

When collaborating with someone and deciding if its the best thing for me and my brand I go based off energy and if this distinct client/brand aligns with my morals. A check for a campaign can be looking pretty hefty but if the brand doesn’t ever represent or support POC in any ad/commercials or demographic of their employees behind the brand then I rightfully decline and keep it pushing. We are now looking at the year of 2020 and although it’s nice to bite the bullet and keep our heads down when brought with conflict . I feel it’s our duty to speak up on injustice activities in the industry. but that’s a whole other post we will get into ….
